my laptop was infested with viruses again (ivy thinks it's a worm). it's a big hassle because i use my laptop a lot in research and in the preparation of lessons and exams. anyhow, i have survived the ordeal because i didn't have it anyway for the first seven years that i was teaching. it's ok now, i think. my sister's officemate reformatted it and i have just reinstalled the drivers and programs.
so on thursday night i was watching er on the hallmark channel and there as a 'crazy' patient was charlie eppes (david k). i didn't recognize him at first because his hair was clean-cut. but i would recognize his eyes and voice anywhere. he's just a sight to behold and i love him, hahaha.
this morning, i woke up early so that i decided to bike (i haven't been for quite a while now). on my 4th or 5th round, i saw a big snail crossing the street. i wished for it to achieve its purpose without being run by a vehicle or even human feet. everytime i passed by that place, i could see its progress. there was even a point when i thought i was run by something because it was not moving and its body was partially hidden in the shell. but then before my last round, i saw that it achieved its purpose, was able to cross the road alive.
this snail made me think about life and our purpose here on earth. the snail started early with its purpose. however big the obstacles were - people and vehicles passing by plus things and garbage on its way - its determination paid off, never giving up. we can all learn from this snail. no matter how hard or how long, whatever the obstacles were, it kept moving on, little by little. that's achievement, that's purpose.
