random thoughts 2

i was thinking about my previous post. i was planning to relate my dfa-clark experience with something and this afternoon it all came back. you see, i was lined up to pay for a kilo of sugar and a pack of batteries at the grocery when this man cut off the line since, according to him, he was only buying a pad of paper. it was really no big deal to me. i was not in a hurry anyway but i just thought that a lot of people just don't have consideration for others. it sucks! ...and going back to the dfa-clark experience...while lined up for the last step, i thought experiences like that one is one major reason why i'm not keen on migrating anywhere abroad. i'm just not an "immigration" person. i mean, when you're applying for a visa, you go to the immigration office of the country you're planning to go to. there's really not much problem with that. my problem is when people from the immigration asks you questions which you ought to answer not honestly as yo...

random thoughts

i just remembered i need to share this. this happened a week ago...my sister asked me to accompany her to dfa-clark because she needed to renew her passport. i decided since i was going there anyway, might as well renew mine. we did not really go there that early. we arrived there at 7am. i lined up while my sister inquired about the application forms. while my sister was in line after, i went to have my pictures taken. when i got back, they announced that only the first 100 would be alllowed inside. lo and behold, our numbers were 98 and 99! what a luck! but then when it was my turn on the examiner's window, my photos were rejected so that i needed to have myself photographed again. i was really pissed off that i had to pay again for another set of photos. and worse, the line was so long. it was just fortunate that my sister was already in line and saving for me for the next step. and by the time i finished with the examiner, it was barely 10mins to lunch break. we had to go back....

beautiful poem

Natural History E.B. White, 1929 The spider, dropping down from twig, Unfolds a plan of her devising, A thin premeditated rig To use in rising. And all that journey down through space, In cool descent and loyal hearted, She spins a ladder to the place From where she started. Thus I, gone forth as spiders do In spider's web a truth discerning, Attach one silken thread to you For my returning. EB White is also the writer of the famous children's novel-turned-movie, Charlotte's web. It's a good movie which is also about the friendship, love and sacrifice of Charlotte, the spider, to her friend Wilbur, the pig. Check out the movie. You'll learn a lot. I did.

connections and disconnections

i just uploaded the photos from the 2nd ashs alumni homecoming this morning (in my friendster account). they're public photos so any ashs person (and non-ashs who are maybe interested) can grab them. the homecoming was ok, though not well-attended. we had fun, i at least had fun with batches '97 and '98. nobody from the batch '95 was there, i wonder why...anyway, every 5 batches were supposed to perform and our group didn't plan anything. geena suggested that maybe we can just sing the pac hymn, which was a great idea. so we sang the pac hymn. the other groups also sang some songs from their time, hehehe...i didn't really know a lot of ashs graduates and i got to know them (at least by their faces) through that gathering. the next homecoming is in 2009 and i am hoping that ashs graduates will get their butts off their seats and attend the party. come on people! you wouldn't have been where you are right now if not for your education in the ashs curr...
