i am watching the "blind side" for the second time. i like this movie. it's a true story of the struggles and successes of the football player, michael oher. while watching it today, i noticed two scenes in the movie related to my lesson in my speech class. michael was formerly called 'big mike.' however, the first important information that he shared with his soon-to-be legal guardian is that he doesn't like to be called big mike. he said he was michael so that leigh anne started calling him that. there's also this scene when he asked leigh anne to help him get a driver's license because he needs something to identify himself.
names - they really mean nothing and everything. for others, calling him big mike might not mean anything. however, it means everything for him because it's his name, his identity. he has lost his family and all he got is his name, i.e. michael.
i also like this movie because it touches my heart. this family who gave michael a family and a home, they have good and kind hearts.
despite the depressing things that happen around us, there will always be these people who have kind hearts. i am just getting to know one. she's helping me get through this. good person with a kind heart, i'm glad i've met you.
p.s.
sandra bullock won the oscars for this movie.
