something i learned from watching csi
the tribune tower near the michigan avenue bridge in chicago has over 136 stones from all landmarks etched on the walls of its ground level. one of these stones is from our very own corregidor island! it is specifically located on top of the stone (maybe a deposit of sediment) from santa maria island-azores in the atlantic ocean. other stones on this wall came from the alamo, a former mission and fortress compound, now a museum, located in san antonio, texas; the redwood forest in northern california; and the hagia sophia, a former patriarchal basilica, later a mosque, now a museum, in istanbul, turkey.
how great is that!
all these things i learned from mac taylor in the season 4, episode 9 of csi:new york. well, he did not really mention the stone from corregidor island as he did all the others (because they were crucial parts of the puzzle that he and his team were solving), but when he went to see the stone-filled wall for himself near the episode’s end, the stone from corregidor island philippines could be seen. check out the episode when it shows here on axn.
here is a picture of the stone on the chicago tower wall which i got from http://www.op97.k12.il.us/julian/tribrocks/rocks/014/index.html
