disneyland and hearst castle

last week, i had a weekend adventure with mae and ella. friday - road trip to anaheim, midnight snack of mcdonald's chicken mcnuggets and soda saturday - disneyland, finally! really the happiest place on earth! train, it's a small world after all, matterhorn bobsleds, mad tea party, dumbo the flying elephant, haunted mansion, snow white's scary adventure; and then to california adventure - hollywood tower of terror, california screamin', soarin' over california; dinner at an italian restaurant in downtown disney, yummy!; back to disneyland for the fireworks display which was almost cancelled because of the wind. buti na lang they pushed through with it, it was AMAZING!; and then midnight feast of denny's food sunday - late morning, then to porto's bakery at glendale for lunch and take-home very delicious bread, pyramid lake, and home not much to say except 'it was a happy weekend at the happiest place on earth!' tomorrow, we're off to hearst cast...

i feel loved. i said this in my mini-speech last night...being here without my family can get lonely. but being with the PCN (and Kababayan) folks makes me feel that i am with my family. as i look around, i see a family, i see love and i feel loved. i am amazed. these folks worked hard from the fall semester putting up a good script and rehearsing until the wee hours even during weekdays to put up a good show. i am happy. these folks wanted to be reconnected with their past and they did as they put up a script with some part of history. one of the things i learned here is that most kababayan students are struggling with their identity, too. i didn't expect that. but these people, they acknowledge that part of them is filipino, too and they want to show that, they want to be that and they struggle with that. putting up the script and the great show demonstrated that. i received messages from two people of different generations (one of whom is not even filipino nor filipino american...
