i was so into the awesomethings that i haven't written in a while. well, here goes...i actually don't know what to write. a lot of things are going on right now. it seems as if everything is being squeezed into my remaining days.
i had 19 days to wrap up everything. joel and mae have compressed everything within these days.
may 22 weekend - hearst castle. man, it was grand and the pool was awesome. we also went to pfeiffer falls. falls, ocean, trees, beautiful weather, good company, what more could i ask for? it was perfect.
may 29 weekend - cherry picking in Belmont, CA and hiking at Calaveras, Big Trees, CA.
june 1 week - enlightening and enriching school visit and lunch, walk and Buddha Gate with Mrs. G.; bonding time with cousin Ariel, hiking at mt. diablo
june 5 weekend - napa valley trip with the girls (mae, junghwa, janeth). the winery called Castello di Amorosa was like a castle, it was great. then, fancy lunch and dinner at joel and mae's house which served as farewell meals for junghwa and janeth
june 8 week - dinners with people
june 11 weekend - camping with the gang. can't wait.
final week - farewell picnic, kuya ariel, mrs. g, the girls (and maybe the guys too)
and then home!
Chances are more than expectations…the possibilities. dreams do come true and my stint here as FLTA has proven that in more ways than one.
i have always wanted to meet people from all over. meeting my co-Fulbright scholars during the orientation at the PAEF office started this. i have friends from all over the Philippines now. i have also made a lot of friends here in the US. plus, being involved in the FLTA program has made me friends from all over the world.
three years ago, i wrote about the Chicago Tribune Tower in my blog. i even asked Christian who was then studying for his Ph.D. in Michigan to visit it and take a picture of the stones from the Philippines etched on the walls of its ground level. on April 4, i went to see these stones for myself…and i went with Christian! ironically, he moved just this year from Michigan to Illinois for his post-doc at Northwestern University.
when i was a kid, my dream was to go to Disneyland. when Disneyland opened in Hong Kong, i thought the realization of this dream is getting near. and then i got accepted to the FLTA Program, and on May 15, 2010, this dream was fulfilled as my friends took me to Disneyland. it was really the happiest place on earth.
i once emailed a friend that writing thank you and goodbye notes made me think yet again where's the good in goodbye? and this wise woman told me it is ALL good. every moment of this lifetime is precious. every step of the journey IS the journey. well, i guess she is right. isang bagsak...on to the next possibility.
i don't know what else to say to top all these. i am just so blessed...with opportunities, with people.
