travel thoughts

Gate A10, San Francisco International Airport

I am here seated at the waiting area near Gate A10, waiting to board the plane to go back home. As I was on the walkalator on my way here at the gate, there was something I observed not only today but in my past travels within the US at least. Before going on the walkalator, a sign that reads ‘stay on the right, walk on the left’ (not the exact words). I mostly stay on the right side because I want to stay put and enjoy the ‘being walked’ as I look around. And 98% of the time, I was the only person doing this. All the others on it stay on the left side and continue walking.

This just made me think that almost everybody here is in a rush. Nobody else stays put on the right side and just enjoy ‘being walked.’ I thought this was so much like walking up or down the escalator. However, on escalators, a lot of people stay put. Perhaps, they do this with escalators because the idea of walking up or down is just too tiring, the reason why they took the escalator anyway instead of the stairs. It should be the same with walkalators, right? So why walk when you are on the walkalator?

DL635

I have boarded the plane. I am seated at 24A which is a window seat. Beside me is Mio from Japan. She is a Japanese Studies professor at UC Davis. What’s really interesting is that she recognizes the Daughtry! She’s seen them on American Idol before. We talked shop for a while.

Up in the air, DL635

A can of coke. Peanuts. Shrimp cocktail. Salad. Asian soy chicken breast with rice and carrots. Music from my ipod. A little reading. An hour nap.Oh, and they showed the movie ‘dear john’ on the plane. How ironic. Can’t wait to tell the ‘dear girls’ about it when I log on the net.

Up in the air, DL635

They served us the pre-arrival light meal which means that we are arriving at Tokyo, Japan anytime soon, like in an hour or so. And then I will take the connecting flight to Manila. I am getting closer to home.

Boarding gate 25, Narita Airport

There is not much to say except I am here at the Narita-Tokyo Airport waiting for my connecting flight to Manila. No delays, no hassles.

I am seated here at 24C which is an aisle seat. Beside me is a Japanese couple. I am shy to ask them to have a picture with me. That’s about it. In 4 hours or so, I will be at home so that this might be my last entry for this trip.

two persons, two great friends

i could have just written this post with the tv series addict blog, but i chose not to because i just want one separate blog as a tribute to these two persons. i've just proven that people who have met through the internet or phone and haven't met even once in person can be friends, really good friends. some time ago, i joined this investigative/guessing thingy sponsored by the philippine daily inquirer on the net. they had this situation where members guess what's going to happen next or who is the person involved and kinda solve it. they even had chatrooms for members. from this room, i met two persons, nath who is from davao and ??? (god, i can't remember his name. i remember he works at the ateneo de manila university). we exchanged cellphone numbers in the chatroom and there started our friendship. i lost communication with the one whose name i can't remember but nath and i never lost communication, either through text messages or friendster messages. there is ...

happy new year

happy new year!!! i’ve been meaning to post since before the new year. however, there was so much traffic in accessing the internet maybe because of the many people who update their profiles and/or send their holiday greetings. plus, i had to delete many spam comments in my friendster blog site. i don’t really understand why they are there and they just keep on piling everyday. anyway, because it’s a new year, i will have a new year’s resolution. this is the 2nd year of posting my new year’s resolution. just read on my previous posts because i have mentioned this quite a few times and i even evaluated myself if i was true to the promise, hehehe. and i plan to continue doing it even if 2008 has passed. so for this year, i resolve to save. i have been working for almost 9 years now and i haven’t saved any penny. i have a bank account and all but there’s really nothing in it. i resolve to start doing this this year because i just thought that i am not getting any younger and i am n...
