after my 10-month journey in the US, i have documented myself for my first 30 days back here at home, through at least one picture. today is my 30th day back home...i have been home for a month and i can say that i have re-adjusted well.
these are the reasons why i feel so back home
- 80 degrees fahrenheit and above temperature with an average humidity of 85% is normal
- skin gets dry despite the heat and humidity
- everyday is a rainy day, too
- flooding in some areas however short the duration of the rain was
- no more online shopping
- tricycles and jeepneys without schedule
- longer travel time even in shorter distances
- narrow and not-so-well paved roads everywhere
- not a lot of english-speaking people so not a lot of the f*** word
- brown people, not much diversity
- disorganization, no lines
- no free wi-fi everywhere, slow internet connection
- not much traveling
- slow transactions
- a lot of people not doing what they're supposed to do
- people-oriented people
- home-cooked meals everyday
- philippine street food
- rooster sounds waking you up in the morning
- i am home!
i was actually surprised that i was able to adjust well in a short period of time. i've re-adjusted well with the weather and the culture. i am thankful that i didn't have so much of re-entry culture shock. thanks to my intercultural communication class which, i think, contributed a lot to this. physically though, i didn't feel normal until after the 3rd week. i felt i was defrosting but everything is good now.
